Behind the action of the live sport in Tokyo, the village was home to thousands of athletes heading from their apartment blocks to the queues at the laundry service, the food hall and the plaza. As I decompressed from a day in the cox's seat, I ran around the village where I spied hundreds of athletes and coaches training. It was one of my favourite scenes seeing athletes from all over the world practicing their sports, one of the best spots was the Canadian artistic swim team training on the grass near the Olympic rings. The likes of Laura Muir jogging and Andy Murray cycling past on a Brompton, whilst Tom Daley, Tommy Fleetwood and Dina Asher-Smith were in the mega dining hall, it reminded me as I finished my run and headed to get some food, that this place was full of those who had already made history and those that were about to pave the way for others.
