GNR8’s programme introduces rowing to ethnically diverse communities

It’s fantastic to hear how the Love Rowing grant last year has helped GNR8 to introduce rowing to individuals who wouldn’t have been able to access the sport before.

The GNR8 Love Rowing project introduced rowing to over 100 locals, increasing participation and well-being. 44 sessions have taken place so far (Dec23) with another 8 weeks to go. They inspired regular rowing, improved machine use through education, and promoted inclusivity by targeting low-income and ethnically diverse communities. This raised participation and enhanced rowing technique.

One of the participants, Mel had never rowed before attending the Row2Grow classes. She absolutely loved the 4 week week course, she said it made it feel physically fitter and the classes allowed her to feel like part of a community.

Love Rowing wish GNR8 Academy continued success and look forward to hearing more as the programme continues.
