Hello, my name is Lauren and I am part of the GB Rowing Team. I am a two time Henley Royal Regatta winner and U23 World Rowing Champion, with aspirations of competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. I am from a small town called Peterlee in the North East of England and learnt to row at my local club, Chester-Le-Street Rowing Club. I was first introduced to rowing whilst at my local state school, St Bedes.
Love Rowing is important to me because it supports community rowing initiatives, which is how I got into the sport and it completely changed my life. Rowing has allowed me to travel the world and compete and win at the highest level whilst meeting so many amazing people from many different countries. I feel very fortunate to have found the sport and would love for other people to be able to have the same opportunities and experiences that I had.
You can find out more about what it is like to train in the GB Rowing team in our next newsletter when we go behind the scenes and I tell you what a day in the life of an athlete looks like!
