The Big Row 2025 Inclusive Club Fund is now closed

Affiliated clubs to British Rowing, Scottish Rowing and Welsh Rowing that raised over £500 in donations in The Big Row Hike Row are eligible for the Inclusive Club Fund.

The Big Row Hike Row was the format for The Big Row for 2025 and Love Rowing’s annual fundraising challenge.

Love Rowing emailed eligible clubs on Friday 14th November 2025, with confirmation of their eligibility and details on how to apply. Deadline for applications is 1st December 2025.

The grant can be used for projects that enable or improve inclusive and accessible rowing at your club for disabled people, young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds or ethnically diverse communities. We hope that Ben Gallagher has increased awareness of the social power of rowing for the wounded, injured and sick community, and therefore we encourage clubs to consider a project that increases access aligned to this mission.

All applications are subject to the Love Rowing grant making policy and terms and conditions.

Who can apply?

This grant is open to any organisation, partnership, club, individual or group who is working to create an inclusive and welcoming sport for all. Love Rowing grants awarded within this fund are eligible for clubs/organisations within Britain and Northern Ireland. British rowing grants awarded within this fund are only eligible for clubs/organisations within England, due to constraints from the funding source.

How much can we apply for?

Applicants are encouraged to consider how much funding is realistically required to support participation initiatives. Grants are expected to range from £500 to over £10,000, with most awards likely to fall between £2,000 and £4,000. We anticipate that more than 50 initiatives will benefit from the fund.

What difference do we want to see through Love Rowing funded projects:

Grant applicants need to tell us what difference and impact they will make through the delivery of the project to open the doors to rowing for new communities and positively impact on people’s lives. There are various ways rowing can make a difference. Think about how your project can make an impact and how you would measure this. These are areas we would like you to consider:

  • How will your project tackle the under representation of our target audiences in rowing?
  • How will your project improve the perception of rowing being an inclusive sport?
  • How will your project improve participants’ physical health and well being?
  • How will your project improve participants’ mental health and well being?
  • How will your project improve life skills such as teamwork, resilience, self-discipline and leadership?
  • How will your project improve participants’ self-confidence and independence?
  • How will your project reduce social isolation and improve social cohesion?
  • How will your project improve education attainment?

We do not expect each project to make a difference in every aspect.

Good luck!
