Our Impact

Since we launched in 2019, we’ve supported 80 projects throughout the UK, positively impacting OVER 12,000 people. Find out more in our latest impact report.

It was our goal to open the doors to rowing for 10,000 people from under served communities by March 2025, and we smashed it.  With the help of our donors, partners and supporters we reached 12,669 people.

2024-2025 in a nutshell:

We aimed to fund 20 more projects and reach 3,000 new people, and we did it, supporting 25 projects and 5,585 beneficiaries.

The ripple effect: Our projects are improving physical and mental health, boosting confidence, reducing isolation, and generally changing lives.

We have supported some awesome examples:

    • Guildford Rowing Club: Making huge strides in adaptive rowing as a truly inclusive clubs.
    • Tyne Youth Rowing: Reaching a whopping 1077 young people from lower socio economic groups, improving their confidence and motivations and behaviour at school.
    • Row the Rhythm: Expanding to new clubs, creating new opportunities for people with a visual impairment.
    • River Ayr Project: Bringing rowing to a deprived area in Scotland, supporting care experience young people and training young instructors from the local community for sustainability.
    • Get Going Get Rowing (Northern Ireland): Inspiring 800 young people, including many from disadvantaged backgrounds, to try indoor rowing.
    • School Indoor Rowing: Bringing rowing machines to state schools, helping young people build confidence and enjoy exercise.

What’s next (2025-2026 goals):

    • Funding more awesome projects through our annual open grant round.
    • Source funding to develop a new large scale inclusive rowing project following the success of the Infinity Boat Club.
    • Making sure disabled people can access rowing everywhere, aiming to increase opportunities at rowing clubs.

mARY'S STORY

“From my very first rowing session I got a sense of achievement – making the boat go on my own. So it has given me a reason to get out of bed. Some days it’s all I think about.

It has really improved my quality of life. I was living in a dull dim dark place. Rowing has been a light in the dark room. The more I go, the more it illuminates that dark room. It’s not just the exercise. It’s the mental thing as well – thinking about the stroke. People don’t take over from you – they let you find your way. It helps me feel more independent. It has done a lot for my confidence.

Rowing has been such a huge help in my life, both physically and mentally.

Mary is pictured above smiling from ear to ear and thoroughly enjoying Row the Rhythm. Row the Rhythm aims to support rowing clubs to provide for people with a visual impairment.

Our goal is to transform the lives of more people just like Mary. With your support we can!
